Total Cost: $7.33

Tuesday: Lasagna (I will be doubling this and freezing one), Salad, Garlic Toasted French Bread

Ground Beef: $2.25
Sausage: $2.64
Canned Tomatoes: $1.16
Tomato Paste: $1.08
Lasagna Noodles: $1.72
Cottage Cheese: $2.63
Mozzarella Cheese: $5.36
Salad $1
French Bread: 50¢

Total Cost: $18.34 (ouch!!)

Wednesday: Jambalaya, Corn on the Cob, Cornbread

Jambalaya Mix: Free
Sausage: $2.50
Corn: Free (from stockpile)
Cornbread: 72¢

Total Cost: $3.22

Thursday: Spaghetti & Garlic Toast

Noodles: 50¢
Sauce: 50¢
Ground Beef: $1.49
Bread: Free

Total Cost: $2.49

Friday: Baked Chicken & Potatoes, Salad, & Crescent Rolls

Chicken: $1.60
Potatoes: $1.75
Salad: $1
Crescent Rolls: $1.07

Total Cost: $5.42

Saturday: Leftover Spaghetti

Total Cost: $0

Sunday: Leftover Chicken & Potatoes

Total Cost: $0

I think it is really cool to calculate how much each meal is costing. I will have to start doing that.

That all sounds delicious! I like that you calculate the meal cost. I did a menu plan Monday awhile back and I need to get back to it. We save a lot more when things are planned out :)

I just love the recipe links, I will be trying the enchilidas this week and might get brave enough to try the lasagna next week.

We you say you make two and freeze one. Can I ask what kind of containers you freeze them in?

I would much rather my kids eat something that I have precooked on a night when we are busy than a store bought finiished product.

I usually freeze in foil pans, covered in foil. But, I just bought some neat Pyrex dishes w/ lids that are safe for freezer/oven/dishwasher at Walmart. I’m pretty excited to try them out this week!
