Saving Money with Pets

Pets are expensive! I’m rediscovering this after getting our new puppy last week. There’s food, treats, vet bills, medicine, grooming, the list goes on and on! So, now I’m having to put more effort into couponing to compensate for the added expense of having another mouth to feed.
One way to save money taking care of your pet is to use coupons of course! You can find coupons for most major pet food brands. Purina, Iams and some other pet food companies even occasionally offer free product coupons! In past newspaper inserts I have seen coupons for pet food, treats, cat litter, and Scotch Fur Fighters. Match those coupons up with sales and you can save a bundle!
You can also get coupons directly from the manufacturer! Most dog food brands have mailing lists you can sign up for to receive occasional coupons. If your pet food brand does not have one you might consider sending them a short email. You can see my success with this method here.

Store loyalty programs can also save you money! Many stores have Pet Clubs where you can receive special coupons or discounts.
