Daily Frugal Tip: Know When To Buy Frozen or Fresh Spinach

There are many different ways to cook with spinach. Spinach can be used in all kinds of various recipes: salads, dips, casseroles, and more. It’s also very healthy!

Unfortunately, fresh spinach can be a budget-breaker for some. Today’s frugal tip is to learn when to buy frozen and when to buy fresh! Sometimes it’s truly worth the extra couple dollars spent on fresh spinach, while other times it’s perfectly okay to opt for the frozen $1 package of spinach.

  1. Always buy fresh about twice a month. It’s so much better in flavor in my opinion. The frozen stuff is too stringy and dried out for my tastes. BUt I do know that the local grocery stores where I have gotten frozen let the packages thaw out then refreeze them. Affects the quality significantly. And the fresh I can see in the bag so I know how fresh or not the leaves are.
