Free Fun All Summer Long!

You don’t have to sit around bored all summer, and you don’t have to spend a fortune to have fun!  Check out all these FREE (or really cheap) events you can attend this summer!

Go to a Park or Museum

Fee-Free National Parks – Mark your calendars for three fee-free weekends this summer at more than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees. Fee-free weekends include: June 20-21, 2009 (Father’s Day weekend), July 18-19, 2009, and August 15-16, 2009.

Free Museum Admission from Bank of America – Get FREE general admission to participating museums, zoos, science centers, botanical gardens, and more on the first full weekend of every month just by presenting your Bank of America card. (Thanks “Cents”able Momma!)

Free Events from Target – Target is sponsoring Free museum admissions and more this summer throughout the US.

Attend a Workshop

Free Home Depot Kids Workshops – The first Saturday of each month between 9 am and noon, all Home Depot stores offer Free How-to Clinics for kids ages 5 – 12.  Each child will create a fun project and receive a kid-sized orange apron, and an achievement pin.

Free Lowes Build and Grow Clinics – Bring your child to Lowe’s and they can build things like a mini putting green and a pirate ship!

Free Kids Apple Camps – Free summer workshops for kids ages 8- 12 to learn how to make a movie, create a photo slideshow, write and record a song, and more on a Mac computer.

See a Movie

Free Redbox Rentals – Redbox is offering a free movie code on the first Monday of the month throughout the summer.  Regular price is just $1!

AMC $1 Movies – $1 kids’ movies during AMC Summer Movie Camp at select AMC theatres, June 17 – August 5, with shows starting at 10 am every Wednesday.

Cinemark – Enjoy 10 movies for $5.00 when purchased in advance, or tickets can be purchased separately at the box office for $1 per show. Watch a different movie each week on weekday mornings for 10 weeks this summer.

More Fun Stuff

Free Family Activities at Bass Pro Shops – On Saturdays and Sunday through July 5th, from Noon – 6 pm you and your family can enjoy their laser shooting gallery, shooting range, s’mores cookout, crafts, and more completely FREE! (Thanks Happy Couponing!)

Kids Bowl Free – Kids can bowl two games every day, all summer long at participating bowling centers! Family members can also receive a special discount.

Reading Rewards

Free Barnes & Noble Book – If your child reads 8 books this summer they will receive a free book from Barnes & Noble!

Half Price Books Summer Reading Program – Kids ages 12 and under can earn a $3 Half Price Books shopping card for each week they read at least 15 minutes per day!

Borders Reading Challenge – Kids 12 and under who read any 8 books can save 50% or more on selected items.

Pottery Barn Kids Story Time – Head to Pottery Barn Kids every Tuesday for story time from 11 am to 11:30 am. Kids who attend five story times will receive a free gift!

For Adults

Free Golf for Women – June 1st – June 30th Women (14 yrs and older) can enjoy free golf lessons and golf-related networking and social activities at courses across the country in honor of Women’s Golf Month.  (Thanks Thrifty Mama!)

Free Home Depot Workshops – Join the Home Depot Home Improver Club and take various home improvement workshops on weekends all summer long!

Free Fitness Program for Moms – Moms can get 1 Free week of Stroller Strides or Fit 4 Baby fitness classes.

  1. I was also going to mention the Regal movies. Note that they are actually on Tuesday and Wednesday (not W and Th as stated above). A great activity if it’s a rainy day!
