  1. Thank you for explaining! I’m still confused about why they would take a $1 RR and not a $3, though. It was still the same number of coupons and items. My total for the Purex was $3.49. Do you think it’s b/c the pre-tax price was less than $3? That’s the only thing I can think of, but that seems like a lot of tax for one item. I did take my receipt back and got reimbursed for the Kleenex. (The ones that I picked were definitely listed and even pictured on the front page of the ad.) However he just returned everything and then started the transaction over, but didn’t give me the credit for the two coupons that I had originally used. Sigh. I didn’t fight it…I was afraid they were going to kick me out of their store!!! I’m rather new to this, so I guess I’ll get better at figuring out all the tricks.

Oh, I had one other question…do the prices sometimes vary by store? All of the Kleenex that qualified for the B1G1 were priced at $2.19 rather than $1.99. Just wondering. Thank you for your help!

  2. Oh, I also wanted to mention that there were two $3/2 Motrin/Tylenol coupons in this past weeks’ Smart Source, for those who didn’t have the 11/22 Motrin/Children’s Motrin coupon.

  3. I’m so frustrated with our Walgreens! First they wouldn’t let me use the Revlon coupon b/c the coupon value exceeded the price by one cent! Has anyone ever had this problem ANYWHERE?!?! Then they wouldn’t let me use a $3 register reward on a $3.49 purchase b/c they said I couldn’t scan two coupons for only one item (I was getting the Purex deal). Funny, though…they let me use a $1 register reward, which was still two coupons for one item! At least they didn’t give me a problem with the Purex, although I did have to buy one, get three free. Oh, they also didn’t give me B1G1 on the Kleenex (but I did get the $3 RR, FYI). I’m going back today to get a refund on the three Kleenex I should have gotten for free and hopefully I’ll get a different cashier/manager who will take the Revlon coupon. Has anyone else had this type of problem with Walgreens?

    • @Shirley, Ok I actually work at walgreens so heres the deal. There is a limit of 1 coupon per item. NO MATTER WHAT. Say you buy 2 things for 4.99 for the total. You can use 2 coupons as they as they dont equal up the before-tax price. walgreens does not want to pay people for buying items

    • @Shirley, Hi Shirley, sorry about your frustrating experience. I don’t work at Walgreens but I shop there a lot. What I have found out is that the number of coupons cannot exceed the number of items that you buy. So if you buy 1 item, they won’t let you use 2 coupons on it (including RR). So, this is what I did this week (for example): I wanted to buy 2 bottles of the Starbucks Frappuccino, and I had 2 manufacturer’s internet coupons and a Walgreens coupon from the ad. So I just picked up an extra item (Altoids), and I was able to use all 3 coupons on my purchase. Regarding the Kleenex deal, I noticed that not all sizes were included in the B1G1 sale — for example, the 110 or 120 ct. wasn’t tagged as B1G1. (I bought 6 boxes of the 200 ct. today, and was able to get the B1G1 deal and $3 RR.)

  4. Note: At some Walgreens, the Purex rings up as 1 for $2.99 and one for $3.00, as opposed to 1 for $5.99 and 1 for $0.00. Therefor, they only give the manufacturer Q a value of $2.99.

I tried to buy one and get three free, and ended up paying $9 for 4 instead of $6 for 4. I’ll be returning two of them.

  5. Can you further explain the Purex B1G1 deal? Not following when you say buy 1 and get three free? What is the Walgreens coupon policy on B1G1 offers?

    • @PJ, Some Walgreens will not allow you to use a B1G1 Free coupon on a B1G1 Free sale and get 2 items completely free. They might make you pay for 1 and get 2 free with the sale and 1 free with the coupon.

  6. Tried the Purex deal, and they told me I was already getting 1 free, and couldn’t get another one. What did I do wrong?

  7. I was at Walgreens today, and looked at the Kleenex deal. I saw the B1G1 offer in the weekly ad/Sunday circular, but I did not see any mention about “Buy 6 and Earn $3 in Register Rewards” anywhere — not in the ad/circular nor on the shelf. Are you sure they are running the Register Rewards offer for Kleenex this week? Thanks.
