  • Brooke,

You can definitely save money and still eat healthy! I frequently get great deals on whole wheat pasta (50¢ a box recently), organic tomato sauce (free recently), frozen veggies (free recently), yogurt (50¢/4pk recently), Kashi granola bars and cereal (free recently), the list goes on! Just hang on to those coupons when they come around and you'll see a sale to match them up with soon enough! Also, saving money on non-food items (shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, etc) will free up a lot of your budget so that you CAN afford to buy the foods you want! I frequently use my overage on items like toothpaste to help pay for my fresh produce and meat.

    I hope that helps!

  • Stephanie-

I am trying out your site as well as others to find out more one using coupons. I have one question....I noted that most blogs show items purchased using coupons and it's all junk food. My kids don't eat Pop tarts, sugar cereals, canned veggies, etc....
How do I find coupons for whole wheat pastas, organic pasta sauces, fat free granola bars, regular Cherrios, and other healthy choices. I noted one shopper saved a ton of money but only purchased high sugar cereals and yogurts, super high fat frozen foods and chips galor. I want to save money, but not harm my kids health. Any suggestions?

  • Teresa,

I'm sorry you had this problem. Some stores just can't get their stories straight. I highly doubt that there was a letter from corporate. If there was, it was probably misunderstood. I think Rachel at Surviving the Stores will be posting about Walmart's coupon policy pretty soon. Until then you could try another Walmart or call Corporate and ask them (although they can't keep their stories straight there either - just warning you).

I haven't used any IPs there recently but I will let you know what happens the next time I do!

  • Hi Stephanie, Not related to this post, but I didn't know where to put this post. I went to Walmart yesterday (2/6/09). My cashier was Jennifer (young girl). She called a manager over, don't remember her name (short black hair and overweight - not commenting just describing). I was informed that Walmart received a letter from corporate - NO MORE INTERNET COUPONS will be accepted. Further, she stated, if the coupon was more than the item, they would not price adjust or accept the coupon. So, just wanted to give you a heads up! If you don't mind, would you let me know your experiences from this day forward. Maybe it was just that manager/cashier combo. But she did say it was from corporate. She also told me not to throw away the coupons that some other store may still accept them. I assured her I wouldn't be throwing them away. Should I try another Walmart? I would love your thoughts.
