7 Free Things to Do With Your Kids This Fall

Ahhhhh Fall. The fresh crisp air, the changing leaves falling. One of my favorite times of year. School is back in session so time spent with your family is even more important. There are so many fun things we love to do as a family during the fall. Here are just a few:

  1. Jump into a Pile of Leaves. Make sure they are freshly raked, because nothing is better than messing up a pile of freshly raked leaves. I’m a bit too big for it now, but my kids still have a blast.
  2. Visit an Apple Orchard. Go to just soak in the gorgeous ambiance or go apple picking. This is probably one of my favorites that we do every year.
  3. Go to a Pumpkin Patch. This should be a given for everyone for Fall. Many don’t charge an admission fee, so even if you don’t want to splurge on a pumpkin patch pumpkin, you can still make this a really fun trip. Take photos or make a game out of comparing all the pumpkins! I’ve been to some pumpkin patches that have some super fun activities like tractor rides and bobbing for apples.
  4. Make a Pie or Cobbler. I would say make a pumpkin pie but not everyone is all about pumpkins for fall. Apple pies and peach cobblers are also great fall desserts. MyRecipes.com has a great peach cobbler recipe if you’d like to give it a try!
  5. Make Candy or Caramel Apples. These are so fun to make. Caramel Apples are by far a lot easier, but Candy Apples are a favorite for the fall.
  6. Fall Crafting. The best things to use for fall crafting is leaves! There are some great ideas for leaf crafts via Hands On as we Grow
  7. Roast Pumpkin Seeds. I absolutely love pumpkin seeds. I have fond memories of doing this as a child with my family. They are so easy to make and you can flavor them in so many different varieties. Delish.com has 16 pumpkin seed recipes that will make all that pumpkin gut removal worth it!

If you’re one who celebrates Halloween, there are a gazillion other activities that could be included in this list. The most important thing to do with your kids and your family is to just notice the beauty of fall – because it only comes around once a year.
