Walmart 101 – How to Shop and Save Money at Walmart

If you’re shopping at Walmart, chances are you’re already saving big on everyday purchases, but here are a few helpful tips that could help you maximize your savings!

Online Savings Center

Before shopping at Walmart — online or in-store — be sure to visit the Online Savings Center first to see if any of the items on your list (or wish list!) are on sale. Here you can explore hundreds of listings that are on sale, rollback, or even clearance.

Products range from typical household items like laundry detergent and toilet paper, to big-ticket items like flat-screen TVs.

You can filter by brand, product category, the kind of deal you want, and even whether you want to have it delivered to your home or pick it up in-store.

Weekly Ad

In addition to company-wide savings found in the Online Savings Center, you can find local deals at your Walmart store in the classic Weekly Ad!

Only now, you don’t have to go into the store or wait for the mail to come to see what deals are available. You can find them instantly online right here.

Just enter your zip code to see what stores near you are offering!

Walmart Savings Catcher

If you have a smartphone and shop at Walmart, you are leaving money on the table if you aren’t using this free feature of the Walmart App.

This feature will take your receipt and compare your purchases against local retailers nearby. If the app finds that an item you bought is on sale for cheaper nearby, you will automatically get the difference via Walmart eGift card!

For full details on how this works (it’s so easy!), check out my post on the Walmart Savings Catcher here.

Walmart Credit Card

If you frequently shop at Walmart for your household, you may benefit from becoming a Walmart credit card holder.

Savings for cardholders include: 3% on all Walmart.com purchases (including Grocery Pickup orders), 2% on Murphy USA and Walmart fuel purchases, and 1% on all other purchases made with the Walmart credit card.

At the time of posting, you can also get $25 statement credit back on a $75 purchase when you open a new account.
