Reader Adrienne sent in the following great frugal tip:
“When I feel like I don’t have time to coupon, I still save money by buying meat in bulk, especially ground beef. I buy the 10 or 20 lb tubes and bring them home. My husband slices them into 1-lb sections and we put them in freezer bags and store them. Then I always have an easy go-to for “beefing” up a recipe. If I want to thaw it and brown it at the same time, but don’t have time to slave away over the stove, I will put 1 lb in my small crockpot and turn it on low. Presto! A couple of hours later, it’s ready to be drained and added to salads, pastas, or whatever we need to make a meal! And it seems like I have so much meat I don’t have to go to the store nearly as often!”
This one saves money AND time! You could also go meatless more often to save money.
Thanks, Adrienne!
