I’m Back!

I’m here! I’m here!  Sorry for disappearing with no notice for a few days.  My pesky real life demanded my attention.  Just a little tip:  If at all avoidable, do not have a child between December 24th and January 1st.  If you do, you will spend the next 18 years trying hopelessly to organize a birthday party in between 2 celebrated holidays that occur within a week  of each other.  And then you will spend a week afterward trying to put your house back together.  Just warning you.

Anyway.

I promise I did not intend to leave everyone hanging, and I am devoting the next 2 hours to attempting to catch everyone up.  I also intend to email everyone back…eventually.  My computer has been in the closet for 3 days and my inbox is a little bit scary, so please forgive me if my responses don’t come until next month week.

Thanks for putting up with me!  Now, onto the deals…..

  1. My oldest was born on Dec. 25! After struggling with guilt over not wanting to have a party during this time, we started 1/2 birthday parties (July)! Much, much easier to handle and, so far, son doesn’t seem to mind!

  2. I can totally relate to your little one. I’m a Christmas Eve baby. This year I did something totally different: I went to Disneyland on my birthday to take advantage of getting in free on your birthday. I was quite surprised to see so many fellow XmasEve babies. It was a lot of fun. BTW…any one visiting Southern California or Florida can take advantage of Disney’s get in free promo for this year. Last year was get in on your birthday, this year is “give a day, get a Disney Day”. Basically you sign up to volunteer your time for a day and in exchange you can get into one theme Park in the Disneyland or Disney World Resorts. Pretty good deal for helping out. Check out Disneyland.com for more details. You have to use the ticket this year though. I’m new to your blog but am looking forward to following.

    Cheers!

  3. I had to chuckle when I read this…my daughter’s b-day is Dec 20th. Not in the same time frame as yours, but pretty close, and I do understand your struggles. My husband and I are planning to have another child, and we’re strategically holding off on “trying” until late spring so we can be CERTAIN that the next one won’t be born around Christmas, too!

  4. With a December (or January) birthday child, don’t try the COMBO GIFT trick! Even if it is something we may think of as a ‘better’ gift, kids see it as less to unwrap, thus feeling slighted.

  5. Happy Birthday to your little one! My birthday is Dec. 21 so I can relate. No birthdays should be allowed in December. I always wanted a summer birthday. On a brighter note, Toys are on clearance at Target “after” Christmas. ha

    • Lori,

I always wanted a summer birthday too! Me, my husband, and both my children are born in late fall or winter. {Sigh} Thank goodness for all the toy deals around then!

  6. We missed you! And trust me I know the feeling. My daughters birthday is Dec 31st. So the past three weeks have been “fun”.
