It’s official!  The 2009 – 2010 school year has begun!  Even though we homeschool, I still experience the stress and excitement of back-to-school time! Purchasing school supplies, lesson planning, and getting back into a normal routine (as in, waking up before noon….) are just a few of the things I’ve been scrambling to do these last couple of weeks.  And now it’s here – my son is an official kindergartner!

Even though my son doesn’t go to public school, we still collect box tops.  It is such a great way to help the schools, and we can’t just throw them away!  After all, each box top is worth 10¢ to a school!  That may not sound like much, but did you know that Box Tops has helped America’s schools earn over $250 million in the past 12 years?     my favorite thing about the new school year this year is that my baby starts kindergarten this year and gets to go to school with her brothers, so she feels like a BIG girl now! having her brothers walk her to class is so cute to watch!

    I always enjoyed getting all of the new supplies and trying them out. Heck, I still do today and I’m a mom to two little guys, one is 6 and in the first grade and the other will start Kindergarten next school year.

    Ah, the first day of school…I loved the look on my son’s face when he walked across the crosswalk and saw me standing there on the other side waiting for him after school! He grinned and ran straight for my arms!

    Our favorite thingS about the first day of school are taking pictures of getting on the bus, and being able to use all the new school supplies, and wear all the new clothes, meeting the new teachers and seeing the new classroom!

    I love how organized you have to get for school, I am slightly ocd. And secretly I love(at least for a few minutes) how quiet the house is when both my kids go to school and just to contradict myself, the worse part is how much I miss them!!

    The most wonderful thing about sending my 3 boys back to school (11,13,16) is that someone else will be feeding them! (all of our school children eat free, courtesy of the county’s high poverty rate). Yay! Fewer convenience foods to buy!
